Description
The Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor was composed by Tchaikovsky between 1874 and 1875. It was revised numerous times, and the final version is the one widely used today. The first version received heavy criticism from the famous Russian pianist Nikolai Rubinstein, whom Tchaikovsky dedicated the work to in the hope of him performing it at a premiere. Rubinstein later repudiated his previous accusations and became a fervent champion of the work. It is one of the most popular Tchaikovsky compositions and among the best known of all piano concertos.
