PETER TCHAIKOVSKY
“Dance of the Merlitons”

12.00

From ballet “Nutcracker”

One of Peter Tchaikovsky’s most enduring legacies is his ballet “The Nutcracker”. It is a Christmas story in which young Marie Stahlbaum’s favorite toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, becomes a Prince and whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. A great addition to a school orchestra program, as it allows to choose a soloist amongst the orchestra.

Includes: demo MP3 / “minus soloist” play-along mp3 / conductor’s score / full orchestra parts / pianist solo part

Description

One of Peter Tchaikovsky’s most enduring legacies is his ballet “The Nutcracker”. It is a Christmas story in which young Marie Stahlbaum’s favorite toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, becomes a Prince and whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. It is called “The Land of Sweets”, and various pastries and candies are dancing in it, for example in the “Dance of the Mirlitons” (a French flat waffle, rolled into a tube and filled with chocolate mousse).

HomeOrchestra arrangements of classical music standards is a very desirable addition to a school orchestra repertoire. It allows to choose a member of any group – keyboards, strings, woodwinds or brass – and give them an unprecedented opportunity to shine as a soloist of a symphonic orchestra from the youngest age!
