From ballet “Nutcracker”

One of Tchaikovsky’s most enduring legacies are his ballets, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake” and of course “Nutcracker”. Ballet is a theatrical performance which tells a story using music, costumes, sets, and dance. A great addition to a school orchestra program, as it allows to choose a soloist amongst the orchestra.

Description

One of Tchaikovsky’s most enduring legacies are his ballets, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake” and of course “Nutcracker”. Ballet is a theatrical performance which tells a story using music, costumes, sets, and dance. “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” is a Christmas story in which young Marie Stahlbaum’s favorite toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and, after defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, becomes a Prince and whisks her away to a magical kingdom populated by dolls. “Chinese Dance” is a part of a large scene in the ballet, where Marie and Prince travel to the Land of Sweets. A celebration of desserts from around the world is produced, and “Chinese Dance” is depicting the tea from China.

HomeOrchestra arrangements of classical music standards is a very desirable addition to a school orchestra repertoire. It allows to choose a member of any group – keyboards, strings, woodwinds or brass – and give them an unprecedented opportunity to shine as a soloist of a symphonic orchestra from the youngest age!
