Description

“Bolero” was originally meant as a ballet, commissioned to Maurice Ravel by a Russian actress and dancer. It is Ravel’s most famous musical composition. It is based on the Spanish dance called “bolero”. It’s unusual structure – the two themes are just repeated 17 times, each time in different instrumentation – stirred quite a reaction. It had a sensational success when it was premiered at the Paris Opera in 1928. The following text was printed in the program: “Inside a tavern in Spain, people dance beneath the brass lamp hung from the ceiling. In response to the cheers to join in, the female dancer has leapt onto the long table and her steps become more and more animated”.

HomeOrchestra arrangements of classical music standards will help you feel like a professional from first steps. Listen to “the Demo” file, where songs are featured exactly as they finally should sound, with HomeOrchestra’s soloist and the orchestra. Practice with our music sheet, then play our “play-along” track, step in as a soloist, and enjoy leading a full-scale symphonic orchestra in the comfort of your home!
