Description
New York “Broadway Theater” refers to the theatrical performance genre, and along with London’s “West End Theater” it represents the highest level of commercial theater in the English-speaking world. Most of musicals which are staged in Broadway Theater are based on jazz. Jazz is a music genre that originated in African American communities of New Orleans, USA. It takes it’s roots from blues and ragtime, as well as European military band music. Jazz music has some very typical harmonies, including frequent interchanges between major and minor modes within one musical phrase.
