“Una Furtiva Lagrima” – Italian for “A Furtive Tear” – is an air sung by Nemorino, a young peasant from Donizetti’s famous opera “Elixir of Love”. Nemorino has given Adina – a wealthy landowner he is in love with – a love potion, to get her to love him back. When he sees that she shed a tear of happiness, he knows that she loves him. This area is very famous, it was one of higlights in the repertoire of Luciano Pavarotti, an illustrious Italian tenor.
